Profits from the sales of RADO’s Press titles goes toward Operation Kindness, a leading lifesaving animal shelter in Carrollton, Texas. This organization is dedicated to saving the lives of dogs and cats through adoption, medical care, and compassionate sheltering. In 2024 alone, Operation Kindness facilitated 5,785 adoptions and partnered with over 100 shelters and rescue groups across Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana, making a measurable impact in the fight against animal homelessness.
The imprint was inspired by Milli’s beloved rescue dog, Rado. Years ago, she adopted him from the Husky Rescue of Dallas in Alvarado, Texas. After making the hour-long drive, it was love at first sight. A DNA test later revealed that Rado was actually a Husky-Malamute mix. Sweet to everyone—children, adults, and other dogs alike—he was a gentle giant whose friendliness made him more like a Golden Retriever than a guard dog. True to his Husky roots, Rado was strong-willed and stubborn, which made training a challenge, but his joy, loyalty, and companionship made him impossible not to love. He left a lasting mark on Milli’s life.

When my country club told me that he wasn’t welcome out on the patio with me where I occasionally went for an adult beverage, I turned him into a service dog. Oh, and the license plate for his SUV read WOOFIE. As you can see, he was a very important part of my life.”

The inaugural title, JoJo the Tornado Dog, written by Michael Sampson, follows an Australian cattle dog on daring escapades and heroic adventures. Inspired by his own rescue, JoJo, Sampson’s first solo venture allows readers to engage with a thrilling story while contributing to a worthy cause. The book’s illustrations by Lauren Phelps, a celebrated fine artist, bring the story to life with warmth, charm, and a timeless sense of wonder, making it perfect for young readers.

RADO’s Press publishes books for all ages. From picture books and early readers to middle grade titles, our goal is to ensure that everyone can participate in supporting rescue animals through reading. RADO’s Press officially launches on April 30—National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day—a date that underscores the imprint’s mission to celebrate rescue animals and encourage adoption. By reading, creating, or sharing these stories, families can actively support the work of Operation Kindness and help give every animal the chance at a happy, safe home. “I have always had rescues,” Milli relates. “My hidden agenda is to put all of the shelters out of business.” Through RADO’s Press, she now channels her love for animals into a platform where every book sold helps support lifesaving rescue work.

This is incredible work! The idea of turningbook purchases into direct shelter funding is honestly genius. I adopted my dog from a shelter like 3 years ago and still remeber how overwhelmed those places are.
